A better future for students: the Russell Group Student Manifesto

Over the past 12 months, student leaders from 24universities have been working together on the Russell Group Student Manifesto. Bringing together research and insights from many institutions on issues including cost of living, mental health and accommodation, the manifesto demands a better future for students.

Last month: Education Officer Alex chaired the launch of the manifesto at the House of Lords. Now we’re into General Election fever, this manifesto points to exactly what students want to see from the elected Government.

The Manifesto highlights key issues facing students today, calling on Government to:

·      Commit to a full review and reform of higher education, increasing public investment in HE and reducing student fees in the long term.

·      Address the cost-of-living pressures experienced by students across the UK.

·       Strengthen the research and innovation culture in Universities.

·      Improve the quality and affordability of student accommodation.

·      Remove students from net migration targets and improve the UK visa system.
